It’s the freakin’ weekend…
Ya, this is old school, but this song always gets me pumped for the weekend.
Enjoy your weekend, I know I will (I deserve it!) (:

I'm 23 years old and define myself by music and my hair, both of which are always loud. I'm a huge music fanatic who is always looking to hear new local artists

It’s definitely been one of “those” weeks. You know, the one where you look at a calendar (or in my case my DRIOD) and think, “really, its only Wednesday?” then 3 p.m. rolls around and I think again, “it’s only 3 p.m.?” Its at about this point every Wednesday that I take some time to stop working (because I need a reason for that, right?) and check out the internet for all of its newly updated awesomeness. Today, Digg gave me a little giggle (after my recent battles with Digg I was sure that we were no longer friends, but it has definitely picked up and redeemed itself over the last few days) when I saw a simple sketch (cartoon style) of Jimi Hendrix. Jimi happens to be high in my top five of all-time favorite musicians, so anything that relates to him makes me one happy camper (inevitably saving my Wednesday from total disaster).
OK, so its not the FUNNIEST comic ever, but if you are a Jimi fan you have to get a little kick out of it… No one would ever dare ask him if he was experienced. You can even tell by the look on his face that he’s thinking, “really, do you know who I am?!”
I think it’s about time to finish of my Wednesday work day with a nap… wait, I mean, I’m going to finish of the day will a Jimi Hendrix playlist or maybe, just maybe, I will see what Pandora has in store for me with a Jimi Hendrix inspired playlist.
(Side note: Speaking of Pandora playlists, does anyone have a completely awesome Pandora play lists that they would like to share with me? Maybe something that can make my midday, midweek life more bearable? Something that will keep me awake and happy?! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!)

A friend recently handed me American Slang’s The Gaslight Anthem CD (I get a lot of random CDs so I don’t really sit down and listen to them all) and after a week of it sitting in my car I decided to put it in my CD player. He told me “you’re gonna love them.” (Something I hear ALL the time, typically not true.) These guys, however, have been playing nonstop in my car ever since.
Listen to their single, and let me know what you think.
If you love them, like I do, you can buy their CD on Amazon.com (link above). I suggest you give the CD two good listens, the first will give you an idea of their sound, the second will suck you in and make you want to listen to them nonstop. (:

Thats right, the band Bad Religion has been going strong for 30 years! (Which seven years longer than I have been alive, crazy!) Check out Bad Religion: 30 Years, 30 Facts to Celebrate Their Anniversary and see if you find out any facts you didn’t already know. And if you’re not a big Bad Religion fan (or if you don’t even know of them at all) you should check out their Facebook page and get better acquainted! Congrats, Bad Religion, for 30 years of success!

I hope this works as a pick-me-up for you too… Because this song always puts a smile on my face (probably because I am a California Girl!)
Have a great Wednesday… The work day is half over, the work week is half over… REJOICE!

Typically, I love Digg.com, but lately that hasn’t been so true. It’s music section has been lacking so much this week. There isn’t a recently “dugg” item on there! All of the post are three days or older! Really, Digg community, really? The music world hasn’t seen any changes in three days? No silly YouTube sensations? No problems with the mix of sex, drugs and rock n’ roll? This morning when I logged in for my daily music scan I was baffled to see the same nonsense I saw yesterday. Come on Digg lovers! There’s gotta be something awesome out there!
I really do love Digg, so seeing it lack in my favorite section saddens me. If you use Digg, I’m sure you have similar emotions, if you don’t, you should check it out. It’s a great source of information, highly entertaining and (other than recently) updated regularly.
That was my Digg rant, thank you for listening! Haha!

This is an INTERESTING article about how Lady GaGa is bringing back the music video! I remember when MTV really showed music videos, when people watched MTV to see those videos, not to see some stupid reality show (with the same casts from when I was in junior high? really?). It’s funny how much the world of music has changed. If you would have told me five years ago that I could steam music live from my computer without commercials, I would have called you a LIAR. I think we all saw MTV losing the music video scene, and I’m glad to hear that GaGa is bringing it back! We missed you music videos!

I heard this song the other day and it’s right on point for today. I work solely for the weekends. (Why are weekends so much shorter than weekdays? Unfair!)
I hope this song and old school MTV music video (back when MTV actually played music videos) will put you in a better mood to get through today and the rest of the week!

Really, MySpace? You wanted to add yet another reason for people to make the switch to Facebook? After the big Facebook boom, MySpace has definitely seen a drop in profiles (or an increase in deleted profiles). Most of the people I know (outside of the music scene) don’t even bother with silly little MySpace any more. And now, MySpace is considering charging for their music streaming? Why? (I think this will also make a recent post more appealing to some people, Pandora Radio offers FREE streaming!
Silly MySpace! People don’t want to have to pay for things they can get else where legally and for FREE! I think if MySpace wants to (try to) stay in the Social Media race, they need to rethink the notion of making people pay!
