The group announced yesterday that they would be releasing a new album, the groups ninth album, in October of this year. The first single of the new album, “Straight Through My Heart,” is on the guy’s MySpace page.
Hearing this news makes me pretty giddy. I was a huge N*Sync and Backstreet Boys fan when I was in middle school (saying that makes me sound old, I’m not that old yet, am I?) I am hoping I can see the guys on tour for the first time.
The single sounds good. They still sound so Backstreet Boys, which is great. (: Makes me feel like a tween again.
The boys launch their world tour on Sept. 27 in Singapore, then they head to Europe from Oct. 30-Dec. 6. The 2010 tour dates for North American dates are expected to be announced soon. (: As soon as I find the tour dates I’ll make sure to post them so I’m not the only one showing up to their show.
I’m really excited to hear their new CD, I’m sure it’s going to be great, at the least it will be very interesting.

I was searching through Digg early this morning (early in the morning isn’t something I typically do, by the way) and I finally made my way to the music section and found some really cool, only Digg would have, I guess you would call it “stuff.”
One of which I can really relate to being the age that I am I have seen the transition from tape to CD to MP3. In the article “10 Things The ‘iPod Generation’ Will Never Experience” the list of “things” really made me think about how much effort it use to be to listen to my favorite music and how hard it was to find new music. We relied on the radio for all of our music, we hardly heard anything more than the single if you didn’t have the money to buy the tape/CD, and now we can download, send, receive, and even MMS (text) music.
Here is the article’s list of 10.
1. Spending inordinate amounts of time with CD inserts / Sleeve notes
2. Lending an album to a friend, and hoping to get it back
3. Broken CD case teeth
4. Walls Of Neatly Stacked CDs
5. Mixtapes with EFFORT
>>This is probably my favorite. I can remember sitting by the radio for hours trying to hear that ONE song I wanted to add to my tape. Your timing had to be perfect in all ways. The tape needed to be stopped at the perfect time, the sound needed to be recorded and stopped at the perfect time or it just sounded funny. I still remember making tapes for my middle school love. Haha.
6. Putting together CD Wallets For Trips
7. Waiting For Albums To Come Out
8. Tape Trading
9. Skinning Up On An Album Cover
10 The Secret Track
>>Another good one, you always hoped there was a secret track, but you never knew if it was coming or not. Now I can look online to see if the CD has a secret track.
Also while searching Digg I found something I thought was really funny. They redid a bunch of album covers with LEGOS! You really need to check it out, it is very creative and just all around fun. (: There are 30 different albums that were recreated with the Lego covers. 30 Classic Music Albums Recreated With Lego.

Ah… Vacation is over and boy was it a blast. It seems like I haven’t touched a computer in weeks and when you work from the computer being away from one for five days is like a small dose of heaven.
A week out of the loop and I have one guess as to what is STILL in the news… Lets see, could it be… MICHAEL JACKSON? I knew it wouldn’t go away in a matter of days but I was hoping people wouldn’t still be going crazy about it.
As of today, the big MJ news seems to be that Sony is bidding $50 million for film footage of MJ. Check out the article at Billboard.com and let me know what you think.

The blogger who leaked the Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy, Kevin “Skwerl” Cogill, could have spent up to a year in jail and a fine of $400,000 dollars but was sentenced to one year of probation and he also must assist the RIAA in producing a public service announcement about piracy. To read the full story check out MTV.com.
The crazy part of this for me is that there is a woman who is being fined $1.92 million for downloading 24 sounds, but a guy who leaked the songs to the internet is only serving a year of probation… CRAZY. So I guess you can leak the songs, but DON’T download them.
On a side note… HARRY POTTER was awesome. It was definitely a filler movie, not as much action as there is sure to be in the next one, but the movie as a whole was great. Being in the movie theater at midnight for a movie like this is quite the experience, the people are so loud, countdowns begin, people are dressed as characters from the book (some of them even had a wand fight at the front of the theater), but it is all of these reason that I love going to the midnight release of the newest Harry Potter.
OK, so I’m a secret nerd and I’m really excited to see the new Harry Potter. I am even more excited because I am seeing it at midnight tonight!!! (: I thought I would share with you the nine minute multi-trailer YouTube video that I found today!
I hope I am not the only one that is so excited about this. I know its not really music related, and doesn’t fit the theme of a music/game audio blog but in my defense the movie soundtrack seems amazing. (: Haha. I hope you guys enjoy the trailers, hopefully it will make you as excited to see the movie as it did me.

Billboard. com reports that Lady GaGa is “just the third artist in the 16-year history of the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart to collect three No. 1 songs from a debut album.”
I was so excited to see that she is really making her mark on the music world. Lady GaGa is a great artist who brings a new feel to music and the music world.
Avril Lavigne and a personal favorite from growing up, Ace of Base, are the two others who hold the same position as Lady GaGa, the “triumphant triple play.” (Billboard says.)
I found out something interesting while reading the article, Lady GaGa’s real name is Stefani Germanotta. (I’m not big on digging into an artist’s personal life because I think they shouldn’t be snooped on like the media likes to do, so actually knowing an artist first name is weird for me, haha.)
So this is my congrats and kudos to Lady GaGa for being an amazing break out artist.

Ps. I also wonder how the Game Audio Network Guild Summer Summit went yesterday. Hopefully there will be some info online soon so I can post it. (:
