Interview With Papa Roach Recording Engineer Casey Lewis

Check out this interview with Casey Lewis, the recording engineer on the latest Papa Roach album.  This part made me LOL: “The best thing to do is to take the microphone and point it at where the sound is coming from.”  Pinnacle College can give you the training you need to become a recording engineer just like Casey!

John Rodd: Scoring Mixer.

I stumbled across this Q&A with John Rodd.

Rodd is a music recording engineer who is based in LA. He records, mixes and masters music for a variety of projects. He is known for film score recording and mixing. Movies like Cast Away, The Bourne Identity (a personal favorite) and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Rodd has also dug his hands into score mixing (or record engineering) for video games. These games include: Conan, Bladestorm: Hundred Years War and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams.

Rodd has also worked with one of my all time favorite bands, The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Check out his web site here . You can also find samples of his mixing on his site. It gave me a taste of his variety and the vast amount of work that he does.

If you are interested in reading more about the music produced for video games I suggest you add the group Music4Games to your FaceBook and while you’re on FaceBook, go ahead and add me as well.

You can learn to become a recording engineer in nine months from both the Los Angeles and Sacramento recording schools. Pinnacle College offers small classes, professional instructors, modern equipment, and most importantly lots of hands on experience.

And check this out: We are about to launch a new program teaching sound engineering for VIDEO GAMES! Stay tuned for updates on when this exciting new program will launch, you could be one of the first to explore what Pinnacle College has to offer in the field of video game mixing!

If you stumble across any information that you think I might find interesting, be sure to let me know. Don’t forget to sign up for my text updates! (:

Your first dose of Tonic

So, I figure if you’re going to read a blog that I post you should know a bit about me.

For starters, my name is Christy Tonic. I’ll be 22 the 20th of next month. I am originally from California’s Central Valley, more specifically, Fresno.

I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a more interesting, music related career, which has brought me to Pinnacle College, a Los Angeles sound recording engineer college.

I am a diehard music fan, concert buff, and all around music enthusiast. I love to write and read blogs, and I’m a Twitter addict. My hair is always loud, random and changing.

My favorite artists include: Lady Gaga, Forever the Sickest Kids, One Republic, Anberlin, Pink, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Eminen, Guns ‘n Roses, Gwen Stefani, Frank Sinatra, Gavin Roassdale, The Spill Canvas, Senses Fail, The White Tie Affair, Iration. (It’s a rather random list, but it fits my personality.)

I like good food, good company and feel good movies. I am addicted to my Blackberry AKA my CRACKberry.

Well that’s a tidbit about me. Stay tuned for videos, links and photos of concerts I attend, along with my two cents, of course.

If you know of any great local shows in the Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, or Fresno area, let me know. I am trying to see, meet and enjoy all the great local music California has to offer. You can also follow my updates by texting Tonic to 41411 (standard text messaging rates apply) or by adding my Twitter account at https://twitter.com/PinnacleCollege.

If you’re serious about getting into the audio recording industry, you won’t find a better place than Pinnacle College.

PS. I wish I would have gone to see this show. I missed a great performance, I’m sure. Seeing this video made me jealous:
